Let the “Vote for him or the babies get it!” commentary begin! Rather than go through the merits, or lack thereof, of this Arlen Specter fanboi, I thought I would post their YouTube:
The shredding of the Constitution! The shredding of the Statue of Liberty! Oh noes! I take it a vote for Santorum is not an endorsement for making the United States officially and confessionally Catholic. At any rate, it got me thinking about religious art and how Our Lord is traditionally the center of the piece. Generally, all eyes are on Him, pointing toward Him, or He is simply the biggest thing in the picture. In the picture below, one’s eyes might be attracted to His glow, but note the center…and the index finger. And there lies much of the problem I think. Brothers and Sisters, I give you the Christian Rorschach Test (you pass if you are at least a little bit creeped out):

Must be my browser. There’s no picture in the Rorschach space at all. It’s just white.

That’s a Mormon painting, isn’t it?
That’s what I’ve heard, but I should add that it was your garden-variety secular scoffer that once said to me in all seriousness, “MY holy book is the U.S. Constitution!”
i’ve seen that painting online before and thought it bizarre. So I guess this means that somewhere in the US Constitution the Kingship of Christ is officially recognized? NOT.
Yeah, pretty weird painting.
I’m voting for Santorum in the primary and, unless something comes up that I haven’t thought of, would vote for him in the general in the unlikely event of his winning the nomination.
His endorsement of Specter in that fiasco where the party twisted Santorum’s arm and then lost the position to the (not pro-life) Democrat Casey, Jr., was definitely a wrong thing to do. But frankly, it’s a wrong thing to do that I can forgive at this point. He’s paid. The voters punished him. It’s not like Gingrich with Trophy Wife #n on his arm. Santorum made a compromise and succumbed to party politics where I hope I would not do the same, but to my mind that is not sufficient to withhold one’s vote. I’m far more concerned about his present positions, of which the one I’ve heard of that made me wrinkle my nose the most was his support for felon voting and his playing the race card in that connection, where Romney was obviously in the right. I haven’t been following all the various debates and such; IMO the entire process is overhyped, and we’re all going to die of exhaustion if we try to follow everything. But I know of nothing that I find disqualifying about Santorum and much that is good. The very fact that his opponents (including, odiously, Ron Paul) say that he “can’t stop talking about” the homosexual issue, and the fact that he has been staunch on that, plus the fact that he’s even defended a non-exceptions position on abortion, all speak to his willingness to stand up on social conservative issues more than any other candidate in the primary that I’ve heard of thus far.
I’m not ashamed to be counted for him.
And I just now got to watch the youtube of the ad. I like it. Good ad. Sorry.
