That’s actually amusing. Presumably he meant “orthodox” with a small O. My thesis director was a convert from Anglicanism to Greek Orthodoxy (when the Anglicans began ordaining women, I believe), and he always pronounced “Orthodoxy” as “Or-THO-dox-y,” which made it easy at any moment to know what he was talking about.

Good point. I recall a customer once mentioning that he was orthodox. The question seemed natural for me to ask, “Oh? Russian or Greek?” He said, “Oh no, not that. Bible-believing“. I’ve stopped trying to keep up.

I don’t know, maybe I’m tin-eared, but I always thought the “Christ-follower” phrase was _part_ of the theological anarchy phenomenon, not a reaction _against_ it. When I see someone say that I worry that they’re more like Bethke.
