I haven’t posted any Michael Voris videos lately because I happened to agree that even though the bishop that ordered his team to stop using the name “RealCatholic.TV” did so imprudently, he was still the bishop and had authority.
Well, they did stop using it, so in the spirit of niceness:

Remind me again what was so wrong about Michael Voris that it used to have people (like Mark Shea, for example) up in arms over him and pretty much anything he said?
Well, I don’t want to put too fine a point on it because I like both Voris and Mark. To me in some ways they are alot alike and instead of opposites attract, same repels.
“To me in some ways they are alot alike and instead of opposites attract, same repels”
lol, I didn’t think of it like that, but yes they do seem to be (alot) alike in certain ways. Though you probably know Voris better than I do. Mark OTOH, I used to read his blog, regularly in fact (and for several years straight too). But I’ve stopped since then, shea-overdose. too much makes your head explode.
That and the fact that we sort of had a falling out when he banned me from his site. Long story, but it comes down to this: though he can sure dish it out, he does not take criticism well. It was concerning some gay layperson (can’t remember his name) and his living with another gay man, his partner. Alot of Mark’s readers were upset and said it was a scandal, Mark disagreed vehemently, and thus arrived yet another blogosphere battle royale. It didn’t take long before Mark started his name calling again, “combox inquisitors”, he likes to throw that around. So I called him out on it twice, (not nastily either), granted they were pretty heady debates and quite heated. Just reading all the back and forth comments, I had to take a break. When I came back I wanted to make nice, but Mark didn’t get my post (or the joke), he assumed the worst, then banned me! I’m sure part of it was frustration, after all the debate was both heated and looong (the comment section was hundreds of posts long!), but still, ouch! Never been banned from a site in my life before, that did sting quite a bit, especially considering I had not done anything to warrant expulsion.
Though I’m proud to say that I may be the only man to have been banned by Shea, and then subsequently unbanned! (After I explained myself to him that is, though I got no apology…) Yes, it is rare, mythical even, but it did happen!
Seriously though, the whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth, I have not been back since, and I don’t think I will.
I like Voris and his militancy, but the man can be quite stubborn headed sometimes (corapi anyone?). Another thing both he and Mark share in common
